Pup rewiring: Series/Parallel or add blend pot?

Sign in to disble this ad
I need help deciding on a wiring mod for my P/J Aerodyne.

I wanted to change from VOLUME/VOLUME/TONE to VOLUME/BLEND/TONE.

But then it was suggested that rewiring the pups in SERIES and adding a push pull to select between parallel and series would give great sound.

Keep in mind I play heavy loud distorted punk rock.

TWO QUESTIONS:

1) Which of the two mods offer the greatest gains for my style?

2) Is there a way to do both on one bass? ie add the series parallel switch to the Master volume and still replace the other volume with a blend pot?

I've attached the schematics for the V/B/T mod, and for the series/parallel mod for reference.

I wired my pups in series but removed both vol pots and added a on/off toggle switch. I did increase my output volume by wiring them in series though.

setup work for a p/j bass too? Cause I'd love to run series on my p/j.
