| replacement pre and pickups for fretless LB76

This is an older model with the 2-band pre and jazz style PUs, and I want to swap out the stock Carvin PUs and Pre for something more "pro".
What would work well w/o any routing? I've thought about an Aguilar 2-band with Barts, or the 3-band Aggie w/ stacked pots. Anybody else modded an older LB76? I also want an active/passive option.
