Yeah, the Schallers use green, white, yellow and brown, which correspond to DiMarzio's green, white, red and black. So the green and white are the same, yellow=red, brown=black.

Thanks for that. My tech all the relevant paper work. I'll just have to find out what he did. I'm sure the switch, if necessary is easy enough.

They were used in the early G&L SB-1 for a while, I think 80’s / late 80's and they are fairly desirable in that model Bass.

I have 2 kramers from the 80's. One has a Dimarzio p/j setup, the other dual Schaller P's. I've played them for 30 plus years, and even characterized them electrically - impedance , etc. I consider the Dimarzio and Schaller P's to be identical - no discernable difference. Never wanted to change either. I just bought a Yamaha, and the first thing I did was put in a Dimarzio P.

After 30 plus years, still my favorite pickup. Dimarzio or Schaller - either one.

Do they seem to be constructed pretty well?

Hi Stuart,

I had been a quality controller in a German company for 10 years ...
For the "low payed / non-skilled workers" I always used to say: "The best German workers are the Turks" ...
(comparable to Mexican workers in the USA???)

I started as a musician 36 years ago.
So, my "replacement heart" belongs to DiMarzio (and Rockinger). I think there is no difference in quality between DiMarzio, Rockinger, Schaller or Delano (to name a present brand).
There is another company with an S and a D in it? I can't remeber the name. "See more Dunkirk"???

Yes, if you are on the West Coast.

I remember Rockinger! They had a bass tremolo system way back in the 80s.

There's a couple of companies with an S and D.

But yeah, all quality stuff. DiMarzio gets a bad rap sometimes, but they make good stuff. It's nice to have choices.

Schaller was always the high end when it came to tuners and parts. Then Gotoh came along with cheaper versions of the same thing.

Now I use Hipshot.

I have a PBX set on my project P bass, roadblock. It's wired series/off/parallel. They are plenty hot. 13.6 k ohms. The hex pole pieces make it easier to dial in a balanced output. With chromes, rb barks when you dig in. Roll off the tone, and get big fat low end.
