Is SGD alive?
 

I placed and order with him sometime around last November. I still don't have my pickups and he isn't responding to my last two emails. Has anyone heard from him.

He's alive. Just overwhelmed. There are several large and active threads here about his pickups and his business. Read through them.

I have read through them all. A reply would have been nice. I understand and have been understanding. Now I have been wondering if I'll see my pickups or my money. Thanks for the response.

I received my pickups from him last month in a quick and timely manner, but I didn't order anything special or custom. What did you order?

I keep thinking about pulling the trigger on a set but....

I've been wondering the same. I ordered a set a J pups back in Nov, but never got a confirmation email or any other communication. I don't know if the order got lost in the ether or what. I know he's a one man show and has been swamped, and then there was the hurricane. At this point, I'm just leaving it up to fate whether he gets around to selling me a set or not. Either way, I'll be fine.

I just placed my order last night (my 2nd order), and I have read through every thread about SDG, the good and bad.

I had him create a ric sidewinder toaster pickup (which was a custom order) and I love how it turned out. It looks and sounds awesome. With my new bass, SDG was the only pickups i was interested in. I ordered 2 ND3-HB's.

I realize there is a wait, and his communication isn't the best, but I am not in a rush for these, so I am ok with the wait time.

I realize that not everyone is in the same boat as me, so take this for what it is worth.

Other than Kent Armstrong, David is the only pickup winder I know of that can get a Ric type sound from a hum cancelling pickup. I have 2 sets of version 3 stashed away for my own personal builds. Waiting sucks, but David makes a great product.

As soon as my massive backlog is cleared up I have things in place to speed along orders...

By the way, OP, SGD has been good about keeping in touch with me for a good part of my wait time. Occasionally his PM box is full (he's communicating with a lot of customers) so it may be that.
