single pickup P-type bass

I am considering putting together another frankenbass. It would be a fretless P type. I have a very fine USA custom guitars fretless unlined neck with Ebony board. Now I just need a body.
I am leaning towards Alder with a natural finish. Now the question is what kind of pickup to use. I feel that I have 3 options:
1 A Dark Star in the P position
2 A standard P type in the P position
3 A 51 P type in the standard P position

My question is this...which will give me the broadest range of tones and provide the most versatility?
I play with LaBella tapewound strings. so that's another factor to consider. I am fingerstylist and I don't slap although I pop occasionally!

I'd say the darkstar would be the best.

If not that then a single coil P pup would be my next choice.
