Soap Bar pickups w/ strong hi&low mids?

Hi,

I'm using a Schecter Silleto Extreme with stock pickups and really want to push the mids and get a meshuggah sound from it, the problem is that the pickups are ment for scopping, or they seem like it anyway.

Cheers, Sam

Do you want to boost the mids or scoop (cut) the mids? That's two opposite things.

Veldar 12-13-2012 04:02 PM

My current pickups scoop and I want pickups that do the opposite.

I don't think any pickups actually scoop, but they probably have a strong bass and treble response and that makes them sound scooped.

How is your amp's EQ set?

With mids at 3 teribble and bass at 12

Turn down the terrible control.

Well that's why it sounds scooped. You are scooping the mids. Turn the treble down and boost the mids. You might want to turn the bass down a little too.

3 o'clock not at level 3

Pilgrim 12-13-2012 04:24 PM

Yup. The problem is in the EQ setting or the cab, not the pickups.

Yeah sorry I meant 3 o'clock as in boasted so it's horizontal left.

Well then you might need meatier sounding pickups.

Dick Lovgren is currently using a Warwick Dolphin with big Bartolini passive soapbars and he only uses the neck pickup that plays a huge roll in his tone. That might even play a bigger roll in his tone than the pickups themselves.

Good choice in basses I might add :)

I'll have a look at some reviews of the pickups that dick uses.

And one day I'll get a wick.
