Squier Bronco Upgrades

Looking for upgrades for a Squier Bronco bass. Want it to sound good when I'm slapping but also have a nice rich thump to it. Any ideas? Right now it is strung with some two month old GHS Boomers.

The Lil' Killer Strat humbucker from Guitar Fetish is a great upgrade and it's a drop in.

I recommend going for the lower resistance (more vintage) tone. But it's your preference.

This can also be split or wired series/parallel.

Excellent low-cost, high-value mod for a Bronco.

I was thinking of getting the the "Modern" voiced lil killer, I heard it has more mids. I also thought of switching to D'addario chrome flats. Good idea?

Lil' Killer is the way to go. Wire it series-single-parallel for some cool tones.

Better yet, put two of them in.

I've tried a few different strings on my Bronco, but I've been pretty happy with the ECB81S Chrome set.

The short scale keeps the tension down. They feel and play pretty good.

BTW, if you decide to go for a two pickup setup, it's pretty straight forward. Just put in a side jack, route out a space and cut the pickguard.

This will leave you three holes for a VVT setup.

Cool tiger stripes, dude! Very George Lynch-ish.

Thank you. It's not my best work though. I think I'll stick with one pickup.

Depending on if you want to use a strat style p.u. like the original or mod it.Maybe a single jazz pickup would be an easy fix.

Did you have to do any routing?

I put the middle value Lil' Killer in my brothers Bronco and plan on doing the same to mine.

There are lots of SS bass string options out there, just try some out to find the tone you want. Buy only from bassstringsonline.com
