Stingray 5 pickup output

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, I have a MM Stingray 5 with all original electronics in it. As an experiment I would like to make the bass work without the preamp (passive). Is there enough output in the pickup to do this? I want to be able to put it back to stock if needed but Id like to run just a volume and nothing else. Thanks Myke

I've got a SD MM5 ceramic pickup and tried it in my "pickup-test-bass". it works fine passive, similar volume as a passive J.

I had a pair of MM-style pickups in a passive bass, coils wired in parallel gave the same volume output as single coil Jazz pickups. Coils wired in Series, gave more output with more low-midrange while cutting highs. Series wiring, I feel, is better suited in an active bass where you have more control over these frequencies.
