Stingray issue

I have a bad habit of asking stupid questions. I was playing my stingray a few moments ago and noticed when turning my eq knobs that it wasn't having any effect on my tone...or if it was it wasn't noticeable. I don't recall it ever being this way so I replaced the battery thinking it might have died on me but still having the same problem...and I know this battery was good. What could cause this? I have a show tonight and I miss my tone.

maybe the ic is broken. hehehhe..

well, that happened to me few years ago when i bought stingray from internet. it was so cheap, but i never realized the preamp was totally broken. i don't know the ic they use on MM basses, bcause the PCB is black epoxy-ed.

so, i bypassed the preamp and connect the pup wire straight through the output jack. but i love that kind of song. i never fix the preamp until now because it becomes my character. cheer up, u should try that!
