Stingray + P pickups for "retrofit" on a P-bass. Available?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi

Does anyone know of a company that sells a "retrofit Stingray-humbucker + P-bass-pickup + tone/volume-controls"-set? :-)

In the future, I'm thinking about buying a cheap P-bass and getting a tech to make a hole for a Stingray-pickup in the bridge-position that will work with the P-pickup...

Has anyone here done this?
(swedish artist Håkan Hellström's bassist has a custom P-bass like this)

I know that I can buy the American Deluxe P, but I don't like the body-form of it, and it's too expensive for me...

regards
Magnus

Delano have the pickups, as does Carey Nordstrand, Seymour Duncan (Bassline Series) and numerous others. The wiring would depend on whether you're going active or passive, but Seymour Duncan do active preamps to go with the Bassline pickups, which come pre-wired to mini pots - you just need a big enough cavity to put it all in .

Is this the kind of look you were thinking of (but in 4 string format) ? ...

And what a great bass.

Edit: Oh yeah, OP, there's a couple people over at BestBassGear that know their stuff and will help. Email them.

Fender32:

Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking for (and the bassist I saw had the exact same pickups as you've pictured, but on a 4-string)

Which _passive_ PUPs would you recommend?

regards
Magnus
