Stingray pickup

Sign in to disble this ad
Iam looking for a new pickup for my Erine Ball Stingray. I wamt something that is much louder. The pickup right now doesnt seem that loud. I never really noticed it till a few months ago and i need something that louder. I use My bass for almost all styles of music but mostly rock and jazz, and have elxier strings. If you know a good pick up please help me.

Tell the "sound guy" to turn you up.

Volume isn't dictated by the pickup, its a function of the preamp and amp. If you're not getting enough volume or "oomph" out of your sound, it isn't the pickup's fault and replacing it will be a total waste of money.

I'd think he'd better replace the "sound guy" instead...

+1 on replace the sound guy. I get plenty of volume out of my MM with the EQ all flat. What would the guy do if you took a passive bass there?

Have you changed your battery lately?

Maybe you can just raise your pick up?

Stingrays have high outputs compared to most other basses, IME.

Buy a bass D.I. with a boost on it. I can't remember any specific model, but I played through a rig with 2 outboard DI preamps and a compressor, and he had full capacity to turn up and down as he liked - some have foot switches and stuff too for that 'on the spot' slap solo.
