Stock 83/84 Squire P wiring??

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anyone know what was stock wiring for the SQ series Squire P Bass. I recently scored this Squire, it has a Bart pup mod. I found CTS 500K Vol and Tone pots, .47mf cap, and a Switchcraft jack. The wiring looks factory clean or at least a pro job but doesn't exactly match up with any of the wiring diagrams I've seen?? They used the cap as a jumper from the pup hot wire at the Vol to the Tone pot and grounded the center lug of the tone pot? I thought the cap was to be tied to the ground?
I will say I don't fully understand how or why this all works, the bass sounds killer, so I'm not complaining.
Is this setup stock or a Mod?
Input and opinion would be great, Thanks

Here's some Fender wiring diagrams to compare:
