stock caps for a fender jazz bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
just wondering what the stock caps are for a normal jazz bass. it's for my fretless ash bodied, maple neck and ebony fretboard jazz bass. i currently have .022's on (i think it's .022 or it could be .22... the normal ones they use for guitar)

anyway the current sound is too muffled with not enough of top end coming through. i have a model j in the bridge and i'll be putting a reverend j in the neck when i recieve it.

to my knowledge, changing the caps should help open up the sound a bit more. so any help would be greatly appreciated

oh i've got 250k cts pots in that bass and switchcraft jack. standard v/v/t config.

I think they are .047uf, which I dont htink are easy to find. .050 are easy to find and they should work fine, just dont gt ceramic, they suck. if you are going to replace the cap you should use something other than ceramic. Also if you think it sounds too muffled, maybe change the tone pot to 500k. that will make it brighter

You can get .047uf green "chicklet" style caps at Radio Shack for around one dollar for two.

It really doesn't matter if you use .047uf or .050uf. Your ears cannot tell the difference
