stock pickups?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a BC Rich Beast which has 'BC Rich' Pickups whatever that means. someone told me that when a company makes their own stock pickups they tend to be crap.

I recently got a Mesa Walkabout Scout 15 and I cant seem to get a good sound out of the Beast. I also have a Schecter Studio 5 (which is obviously the better bass) and get a better tone.

So I was wondeirng, would stock pickups on a BC Rich be garbage (I havent gotten agreat sound out of them but this could be due to inexperience)? I play metal and was wondering whether it would make a significant difference putting something EMG's in there (like the schecter has)

Not all guitar manufacturers make crap pickups. Gibson invented the humbucker. Fender vintage single coils are some of the most cherished and sought after pickups in the world. It all comes down to personal taste. If you are not happy with your stock pickups, by all means change them...it's not that difficult and there are many to choose from.

When they say "BC Rich" pickups, they probably mean "cheap, Korean made pickups". Yes, there are some companies that have stock pickups that aren't all that bad (Alembic for instance ), but if you're not getting a good tone from the bass you might as well swap them.

Definitely swap those out for some Dimarzios, Seymour Duncans, EMGs. Your tone will improve immediately and you'll be stoked.
