Stupid Question: How do you turn a passive bass active?

I have this bass but want to make it active! What do I do?

You might have to route out a cavity for the battery to go in. If you don't want to do that, they sell a stomp box version.

You need to install an on-board preamp. Audere, Bartolini, East, and Aguilar all make good ones.

Im wanting to do the same thing to my bass and i started a thread just a few days ago.

Search my user name, its the thread called 'MM Sub: Passive to active'. A user named rumblinbass has been very helpful and he might be able to help you out

If you want to keep things simple, you can just run an external eq box like the Sadowsky outboard.

Since that bass only has 1 pickup, you don't need to worry about active pickup blend. Just run a stompbox EQ, it'll be the exact same.

On the cheap go Behringer ADI21.

A bit more go Hartke or MXR.

A bit more go Tech 21.

I would go Hartke VXL Bass Attack.
