| Suggestions for a Fretless P Build

I am having a rosewood fretless neck sent to me from a '78 P (which is about 400 serial numbers off of my fretted '78 P!). My original idea was to stick it on my '76 maple fretless P's body to have the least amount of churning, but I'm coming to the opinion that I should leave it alone and make it a new build.
I have a lead on a '77 natural body, but I'll need everything else to go with it. What I'd ultimately like to do is have a piezo/mag setup. My question to you guys is this:
1. What pickups would you recommend for the build? This would be mainly used for jazz, so I don't need very hot pickups. I could just get a pair of '70s pickups (easy to find), but I'm sure there are possibly better and cheaper options.
2. I'd love to do a piezo bridge to be able to mix an "acoustic-y" sound with the mag. I normally put a BadAss II bridge on my bass, but in my research, it looks like only a few bridges can support piezos. Are there any high mass bridges that can take piezos?
3. Assuming I get a piezo bridge, what is the best preamp/buffer for it? |
