Suggestions for replacement preamp for Lakland 55-02?

I've got a Lakland 55-02 that has the L/H pickups. The preamp just isn't hot enough for me. Any suggestions on a replacement that is hotter and might add some punch?

may be a emg-pa2 could be a solution to make your output hotter... I use one on my main bass with very low boost (if 1 to 3 db is enough for you) as it will not boost enough to get distorted... and you can plug it before or after your onboard preamp...

but thinking of it, as you haven't an emg onboard preamp may I suggest you to place it after...

If you want more volume just turn up the internal preamp gain, that should give you more output.
Here is a link to the preamp's internal controls: http://www.lakland.com/tech-docs/LH-...ram%204-07.pdf

thanks for the ideas, I'm an idiot with electronics. Maybe I can do something with it.
