Suggestions on Replacing electronics

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Ibanez Roadstar series II bass from 1984. It is the 32" scale. I am wanting to keep it in good condition my mother bought it brand new back in 1984. Not necessarily original just want it to work best for me. The pots seem to be getting old or dirty. The same with the jack. I do not know much about the electronics of a bass guitar. I just play one :P I am electrical engineering major so I would love to learn!

I am thinking about replacing the electronics such as the potentiometers, jack, wires, and pickups.

Just wanting your suggestions on what I should do, what kind of pickups I should get to enhance my tone possibly and if maybe I could feasibly do this myself with some help from one of my professors that can solder well.
