Suggestions for Super Ferrite Replacement?

Sign in to disble this ad
I got a good deal on an old Peavey Foundation with Super Ferrites. ( I really only bought it because it came with an original deluxe case that I put my T40 in)

The Neck pickup is definitely bad. I emailed Peavey about a direct replacement and they answered within ten minutes, but said that they don't offer anything. It too bad because the bridge pickup sounds awesome ( very middy, great for me). I have not been able to find a direct replacement and it looks like they are hard to find used. Does anyone know of a drop in replacement that is readily available?

I was thinking about getting a pair of the Alinco MusicMan style pickups from Guitar Fetish and practicing my "routing skills". Any reason why this would be a bad deal? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

PM jgsbass. He had an early 90's Foundation with the transition pickups(Same size as Superferrites but no lettering on the covers). He switched them out for Nordstrom Big singles. I think he still has the peavey pickups, and he is probably willing to sell them. He can also give you insight on replacements.
