Swap Bartolini P2 with Nordstrand DC?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,

Thinking (well) into the future, i'm considering replacing the Bart P2's (I think they are stock, not custom) with Nordstrand DC's in my Elrick bass.

I just purchased a Epifani 310 and it has done wonders for my tone, I still need to get a new head (I have a iamp500 now) thinking of getting a SD800. After that though, I'm thinking about swapping pickups. I'm a real fan of the fat/punchy/clear kind of tone, similar to say Anthony Wellington's tone with his Fodera with Custom Seymor Duncan DC's.

From what I understand the Nords will be closer to this sound than the Barts i have now. Has any else tried both of these pickups in the same bass? or does anyone have general comments on this swap?

Thanks,
Jeff

I've always thought Barts were dark sounding.

The nord DC's are full of life, rich and detailed, while not sounding over the top in brightness and low end. They are the ultimate in dual coils.

Also, depending on if you go Series or Parallel with them makes a world of difference.
