Swapping out my P-Barts

Greetings, fellow tinkerers!

My bass is in need of some new pickups. Not because the Bartolini's that are in there now are broken, just not what I want. I had a few ideas of what I want, but I also have a few questions.

First: the bass has an Aguilar OBP-1 and I don't know what this means for my pickup selection. I'm not sure whether or not I would be able to wire up any old pickup to the OBP-1.

Second: I've been looking for a certain tone in my P-Bass. The Barts that I have in there don't seem to have the high-end response that I'm looking for. My old Gallien-Krueger 400RB-III has been replaced with a MarkBass LM 450w and all of the high-end has gone out the window, regardless of tweaking with the EQ on the bass or amp. Instead of replacing the amp (which I don't want to do), I've decided to fiddle around with the pickups. My ideal tone for this puppy would be a slightly hollow growl/grind with a little emphasis on the high-end (I play with a pick and dig-in quite a bit). So I was thinking of getting the Fender original P-Bass pickups, or some DiMarzios, thought I've heard mixed reviews on the latter. If these thingies won't work with my preamp, then it's back to square one.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm more than happy to hear them

The preamp should be able to wire to any pickup with no problem. For a pickup, check out the Nordstrand NP4. It's pretty highly regarded around here.
