Swapping P/J sets... Older Barts for Nords?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,
Does anyone have any experiences with Nordstrand P/J combos?
Im looking at the NP4 and the NPJ4SE in the bridge, from descriptions this seems like the way to go. That is If I go this way ....

From Best Bass Gear
"NJ4SE: These are a split coil humcancelling design. They use the same had wound pattern found on our NJ4's but with a finer wire called 43 gauge enamel. The natural character of this design is to have a more pronounced lower midrange, and a slightly muted high end. This makes them exceptionally suite to fingerstryle players that are going for a solo bridge pickup sound with good 'bark' and 'heft'. They are also totally humcancelling, and great for commonly noisy live situations.Includes black covers (exposed pole pieces)."

Im thinking of swapping out my current set of Barts (they are older from 91), I love the tone but was just curious as to how a set of Nords would sound in my Fodera, the bass has a Haz labs Pre, but Im playing it more passive these days. Again its not that Im dis-satisfied but was just wondering what the Nords would do, or how they would compare.
opinions and observations are appreciated
thanks
- Tom

Nords are just great pickups. I don't have any experience with PJ set (P-bass and sterlings) but I'm pretty sure you will be very happy with them.

xx

Check out this thread, especially the exellent sound clips from remo .

It was enough to convince me to go with the NJ4SE J Bass set (ordered 'em yesterday ).

thanks ... I appreciate the link to the thread, seems like the Nords have a little bit more heft and airy quality to them. My barts are a bit darker sounding but tighter and growly....

that was good to hear.
