Switching from passive pups to actives, question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey there.
I'm planning to get a pair of Seymour Duncan Basslines ASB5 Phase I's to replace my Bartolini Mk1's. The ASB's are active, as opposed to the MK1's, and so I primarily wonder how this would be solved?
I've got an Ibanez BTB555, which has a 3-band active EQ, feeding off a 9-volt battery. How would you solve the problem with the new need for an additional powersupply? Would you stuff the other 9-volt into the control-cavity? Is it possible to wire the pickups to feed off the same battery?
I am a complete rookie when it comes to bass-electronics, bare with me, and thanks in advance.

I think that you can still keep single battery setup (feed the pickup from the same battery), but due to the increase of current consumption the battery will die faster for sure.
