| Switching the preamp / pickups in a Jaguar

I'm just curious...can you share your experiences if you've bought a Fender Jaguar and switched out either (or both) the pickups or the preamp in a Fender Jaguar? What improvements did you experience?
Also, in the case of a switched out preamp, did you find the original controls still worked as originally designed?
