O.k. so I just ordered an SX pj and I also went ahead and ordered a new pick up. I've read some things on here about people swithcing the capacitors on there tone controls..... What effect does this have, does it make a big difference, and what are some good places to shop for them? If I decide to...

Tip #143a

Play the bass... get used to it... learn it's sounds and tonal character... then decide if you need to change anything. I'm talking weeks/months and not minutes/hours/days.

O.k... a friend of mine has the exact same bass. Which I've practiced and gigged with. I know what it sounds like. I've also used the pick ups I ordered in another bass and I also know what they sound like. thanks.

Well I did some more searching and found what type of pots to and caps to use and where to get them... I guess my only question is what exactly does the cap do in the circuit?
