SX 62 jazz bass pickups vs MIM fender

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a stock 62 jazz bass from rondomusic. I like it besides the jazz neck and the pups seem a bit microphonic and trebly. I have to roll the tone way back to tame the clack. I got a set of MIM jazz pups. I bought them thinking they were MIA, but found out later they are mim. I didnt pay much for them so oh well, but I thought it would be sweet to put mia pups in my SX. They are still wired with the pots so it would be an easy swap. Is this even worth the effort? Anyone done this?

I had a 2004 Fender MIA Jazz and ended up buying Fralins for it.
Personally I think there are better pups out there than the Fender MIA stocks.
i.e. Fralin, Nordstrand and Seymour Duncan (no order of preference here).

well, for what I paid for them assuming they were MIA, it was still a good deal for MIM. Im no luthier, but Im just wondering if its worth even installing them. It probably wont be much better than the stock pickups anyway. Then again im not looking to spend $150 on pickups for a $139 bass anyway. Not unless maybe I get a P neck for it and REALLY dig it then.
