SX pickup swap problem

The SX Jazz pickups have (1) wire soldered with no ground. Installed some Quarter Pound J's. I soldered the hot to the wire already soldered to the pot, and the ground to the appropriate leg. No sound whatsover. I tried very hard not to overheat the pots (lesson learned before.) Where did I go wrong? BTW, both pickups have 13.67 +/- resistance.

FWIW:

Never heard of a pup with a single lead. You have to have an in and out to complete any circuit. Maybe the SX had a jacket around two leads that looked like a single lead, or the pup was wierdly grounded to a baseplate with a single lead.

Did you check the SD with a meter to see if it worked before installing it? My guess is it's miswired. Run it straight to the jack. If it works that way your wiring's amiss.
