T-40 phase switch question

Sign in to disble this ad
Just got a 79' T-40 and replaced a bad pickup selector switch. I have read the manual and realized that my phase switch has 3 positions and the manual states that it is a 2 position switch. The middle position has a different sound and disables the bridge pickup?!?!?! Has the switch been replaced with the wrong one?

Also the volume when turned all the way up to 10 gets tinny and turned back just a hair then gives it a lot of body???

Any thoughts on my new acquisition... Know whatever is going on, the bass still sounds great and has a lot of different sounds.

I wouldn't worry about the phase switch as long as you have a position that corresponds to in-phase. Not too many people like the out-of-phase sound.

I have no idea what is going on with the volumn at 10 - I'll try it on mine tomorrow (it is a little late here to be going to 10).

When both pups are at 10 in out of phase, you get "tinny". Here is a sound clip that starts out of phase and then is switched in phase on a T-40.
