T/T/V wiring over V/V/T?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys,

Just got my bill lawrence j-45 pickups and i just put them in my fender 62 jazz. its sounding great!

However i was wondering if there was any reason to switch to T/T/V from V/V/T?

If so how do i wire it to T/T/V?

Wire each pickup to a tone control, then from the same pin run a cable from each pickup to a pot for a volume?

I dont know why you would want to tho. Doesnt seem anywhere near as useful, tonally.

You could have a stacked Volume/Tone for each pickup, like the '62 Jazz, I think it was. But for a bass with 2 pickups, you should retain a volume control for each, or at least a volume/blend.

If both pups are at full volume the tone pots will affect both pups, not just one.

Sorry, I was talking about the TTV setup.
If you go with VVTT, then as you roll back both volumes the individual tone controls will start to isolate from each other.

Unless there is a sound in your head that you think you can get with two tones, the V/V/T IMO is the way to go. As you add more stuff you load the pickups.
