Does anyone know where I can get a new reproduction of the big fat Fender Tele bass neck pickup, or something that sounds like it?

Doc, I believe he was talking about the Tele bass with the big mudbucker, the one that came after the original single coil P and then the standard P.

The Dark Star is a monster single coil pickup. Very different from these humbuckers but an outstanding performer in its own right.

As the stock pickup is mounted to the pickguard, you can pull the entire stock assembly, and drop on a complete new assembly.

How much difference did you notice when reversing the pickup, so the pole pieces faced the other way?
Hmmm... assuming you tried that. |

The way it is right now is an excellent combination of depth, color, and clean top end.
