is there any easy way to make my duncan "basslines" passive?

Except for the lightning rods (IIRC) the bassline pickups themselves are all passive. YOu would need to rewire the circuit bypassing the preamp.

What kind of Basslines do you have? The quarter-pounders are passive while the Active Soapbars are...uhh active (I have both). The QPs are standard on the Jazz Bass 24 though they are coupled with a Duncan-designed preamp. You can bypass the preamp and the SD site has an active/passive switch mod for it. I asked SD if the bypass mod can be made to the active basslines and they said it couldn't be done since the pups require juice to operate.

oh man, you had to ask what I have ... they are a pair of jazz pickups on a hamer cruisebass ... all I know is they need a battery to work, so I'm interested to hear that all basslines are passive ...

Do you have an active EQ (like a bass and treble control) on the bass? The battery may be for the EQ. Otherwise, they may indeed be Basslines Lightning Rods, which are active and available in a JJ set.
