Is there gonna be a problem?

I had this great idea a while back and I was wondering if it would work without hum...

A '51 styled p-bass pickup where it traditionally goes and a jazz pup in the bridge position. Both would be single coils, but I was wondering if they would cancel the hum like a regular fender jazz does? If it does, I'd imagine it would sound friggen great! Food for thought...

dunno how they would sound together (since the P pickup is i believe not in the same place as a jazz neck pickup), but as long as the jazz pickup was opposite polarity and opposite wind from the single-coil P pickup, it would at least cancel most of the hum.
