Hi. Is there a j pickups that remind hi gains? with some of the characters?
yes, i know that Ric and jazz bass are completely different animals. and there is a matter for the wood, construction method, hardware, pickups location and more.
but still its interesting me.

Most Jazz pickups use alnico magnets and I believe the hi gains use ceramic, so perhaps start there.
