| | | | Are these EMG Pickups... or not?

Hi,
I have bought some EMG pickups online. My problem is that they don't have EMG written on them anywhere. They do have "G & B co." on the bottom of them. There is a logo which is a G and a B in a circle. I have a sad feeling I've been ripped off. Can anyone out there shed some light on my little mystery? |

Is that the logo on the pickup? If so, you may like it as much as if not more than an EMG.... http://www.gbguitars.co.uk/spitfire3.htm

The pick-ups you bought are most likely not EMG by logo, but probably the same content. G&B makes extras when they do runs for EMG. If you got them off ebay, and you got them from "Fret Doctor", I know the pick-ups you bought, and they are very good sounding pick-ups, almost identical in sound to the EMG DC soapbars. |

| | | One other outside possibility is that sometimes people refer to pickups that have non-exposed pickup pole pieces/elements as "emg style" pickups. Maybe the seller possibly meant something along those lines? I hope for you they are they are those re-skinned emg's with G&B wraps. Emg's are awesome. I've been happily playing them exclusively for about 12 years now. |

Even if they were awful, ( which you say they'e not Musiclogic ) at that price , they must be worth checking out for anyone wanting a replacement P pickup... |

| | | | I thought EMG Select pickups were the overseas versions ? I've heard good things about them though. Might get a set for the Squier P.

It'll be partnered with 250k log CTS pots and .47uf cap |

Keep in mind that active pickups like EMG generally need a lower value volume control.. 25K in EMG's case.
That's not to say 250K wont work, but it might seem like it goes from full on to full off rather quickly.
Also sometimes the tone caps need to be larger.
I'll tell ya, the pickups in the photo aren't even in EMG sized cases. |

| | | | What really matters is if they sound good.

| | | | Dont active EMG's have external circuitry that goes with them ? Or is it just a matter of connecting the correct volume and tone pots and a 9V battery ?
