Thinking of Seymour Duncan Phase II NYC soapbar in my DJ5...crazy?

I love my DJ5, but am also extremely curious about this pickup. Could this work, and if so how?. I know some modifications would have to be done to the bass but little else.

are these the soaps that go in fodera basses?

my best recomendation would be to buy a used lakland 55-01 to experiment with, instead of ripping up a DJ on a project.

Yes those are the ones. They sound so friggin mean!. Your probably right though, I do love my DJ5. It is one bass I dont think I will ever sell.

FWIW: I'm not so sure they'd fit in a 55-01 without some serious cutting either. I believe they are EMG-size, not Bart P2 as is the Lakland.

about the size of these pickups. Saw something stating that too. I need to get a bass that I can drop these in and run passive.

What about using a Squier Deluxe Jazz Bass® V Active as your testbed?

Only $299 new, and it has a great reputation here (electronics are weakest link...)

Thinking of swapping out the bridge pickup on my Jazz with one of these.
It could be a humbucker in series or parallel, AND work as a single coil.

Was also thinking of the Delano Hybrid.

Any thoughts on this pickup? Should I just get a stacked humbucker or split single coil - or would this be a good replacement?
