Ok here's the gist of it - here's another loser with no idea how to do any of this, but big plans anyway.
I bought a q-tuner. You guys are like 'no way you bought a friggin q-tuner?'. The answer is yes. I bought a q-tuner.
The dumb thing is, I've got a 2 pickup bass that's active, and has four knobs. And I bought ONE q-tuner pick up. It's got four leads out, so it can be wired to a series/parallel switch (cos I know exactly what that means

).
The bloke who sold it to me (Netherlandish kind of guy... name of Erno. Very knowledgeable) said (and I quote): I recommend to use 500 K linear tone/0.047 uf cap. and 500 K taper volume pots.
So the plan is:
1 Remove Bridge Pickup
2 Remove Active Electronics
3 Get rid of Treble, Bass, and Blend controls
4 Drop Q-tuner in
5 Get all those pots and the cap. Erno recommended
6 Get two two way switches - one will be mute/on, the other will be series/parallel - they'll replace the holes where treble and blend were
7 (this is the tricky bit that I'm not gonna be able to do) - Get it all to work... solder, figure out which wires go where on the switches, and the tone pot, and all that stuff.
8 Play a mad single pickup bass that has a relatively useless EMG-HZ neck pickup in it.
YEOW!
Anyway, the bits where I sort of need heaps of help is:
The wiring diagram for all of that, and
Advice on where to get good linear and taper pots (can I just use the ones I have?),
and the capacator,
and good switches
And maybe a compliment or two on how cool an idea the whole set up is. Come on guys! A mute switch!
Anyway, cheers to all those who got to the end of that, I've got a bad habit of turning a question into a full length fantasy epic. If you've got any of the answers to my questions, or you just wanna say 'you're an idiot' or anything cool and uplifting like that... just go wild!
Thanks TB
