Question Three pickup + active/passive eq, need help with wiring diagrams

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, after literally two years of thinking, trying countless pickups, gathering materials little by little (the mortage loan is not helping my G.A.S.) I have finally decided to build my own bass.

Bought a Warmoth neck and working on an Alder blank to carve my own body shape, helped by a friend who is luthier, but is proficient only about wood and painting (he manufactures violins and cellos).

The main problem is that I haven't seen anywhere a pickups/electronic setup like the one i want, but I am terribly ignorant when it comes to wiring, switching, series, parallel, splitting, hot output, grounding... it's total mumbo-jumbo to me... So i am here to ask for help, the first issue is: is it really possible a setup like the one i thought or i went too far?

HHere's how i want my bass:
Neck pickup: Dimarzio Model One (humbucker)
Middle pickup: Dimarzio Model P (split-coil)
Bridge pickup: Seymour Duncan quarter pound Jazz (single coil)

All three pickups with independent on-off switches, with a supplementary series/single switch on the neck PU (or, if possible, a three way single/series/off switch)

Active/passive switch:
active mode: 3 band 18V aguilar preamp, with three independent treble-bass-mid pots (push-pull on the mid pot for midrange selction)
passive mode: 250k tone pot

Master volume

Is it even possible to wire something like that? I have no clue, especially about the "active eq/passive tone" switch.

If anyone of you could help with a wiring diagram that would be just awesome.

Thank you in advance.

Sure, it's possible, but the passive tone will apply to both active and passive modes.

I'll draw you a diagram later today or tomorrow.

Which coil did you want in single coil mode?
