three pickup wiring question? (from a noob)

I am installing a set of 62' RI jazz pups in my p-bass and had a mixup with the pot order. I ended up with a 250k blend and 1 vol pot. I am getting the appropriate pots soon but not soon enough.

Would it work to wire the P to the vol and the J's to the blend then tone-output?

Does a blend pot function that way? Both pups at 100% at center and then bleeding off one pup at either extreme?
