Tight Roscoe Battery Compartment

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey,

I have a lovely SKB 3004 and I love it nearly as much as my GB IV but it has one massive annoying flaw

The compartment the 9v batteries fit in is so darn tight you cannot get them out with your finger so you have to tenuously ease them out with a pen or small screw driver

This has resulted in the 9v connector getting damaged a few times causing lose connections and thus disabling the pickup connected to it.

As they are plastic and my soldering iron is less than perfect at doing fine spot soldering they melt and this cause more problems.

I thought cool Ill put a bitta ribbon under and around the batteries to pull them out but again it so tight it squeezes the connectors against the bass body again compressing the connectors and causing loose connections.

I really dont wanna have to get some sand paper to my bass to make the hole wider.

Has anyone had this issue before.

sorry for the poor pic

Cheers peeps.

Odd, I just checked both of mine, and neither are that hard to get out, using Duracells.

Wow, she's a beauty!

On both of mine, there was a piece of foam to one side, I can't see if its there or not on yours, if so, how about pulling that out?

Otherwize, I would suggest you PMing Gard here on TB, he's the manager at Roscoe, and should know what to do.

Thanks dude,

When its sunny tommoz I will take some better photos and see if we can come up with a solution. I hope its not me being stupid..but I don't think so.

At the other extreme my GB's practically fall out..

Its just so annoying I am having pickups not work and stuff just for something so simple.

Good stuff..
