Tilted P-Bass Pickup?

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently swapped out my stock Squier Classic Vibe 60s P-Bass pickup and replaced it with a DiMarzio Model P. Since it has adjustable pole pieces, does that mean that the usual tilt that accompanies most split-P style pickups is no longer necessary, or is there another reason to do so?

Just to be clear, I'm referring to how most split Ps are lower on the E and G strings while they are tilted so the A and D string pickups are higher in the middle.

You can adjust it either way. I would normally set the pickup height according to the amount of radius of the strings, then fine tune it with the pole pieces.
