Time for a PU change?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've never get good sound when using a pick with my Fender Deluxe Jazz. It loses all bottom end, an unless I pick very gently, the sound is almost indistingushible. I've raised and lowered the pu's, don't really hear any difference. It does help a little to boost the bass freqs.

Are the stock pu's up to the task, or am I limited to fingerstyle only?

Where do you pick? Closer to the bridge or the neck? Try picking closer to the neck for a fatter tone.

It doesn'ts seem to matter. My Carvin LB70 works just fine, that's why I pinpointed the Fender.
