Toaster top pickup for Rickenbacker

Sign in to disble this ad
At the advice of Rickenboogie, I swapped out the stock neck pickup in my 2010 blonde Rick 4003 with a new toaster top pickup that I bought on the Ric website a couple of weeks ago.

Installation was a piece of cake.

I am so glad I made this swap. Having a lower impedance than the stock pickup, the toaster top sounds so much warmer and creamier and oh sooo good! I pull out the tone knob for the "vintage" setting on the bridge pickup, and I play with both pickups on.

One word to describe the tone: saWEEEEET!

Kudos to Rickenboogie for his excellent recommendation.

I would say the toaster is smoother and not warmer. Warmer usually means more mids and the scatter winding on the toaster actually cancels some mids.
