Hello, I was fortunate to buy a new lefthand tobypro 4 ,
and I know some of you have experience with modding it,
I could use your findings here...

Congrats, you'll enjoy it!!
I have a lefty Toby Deluxe (I bought it new about 8 years ago for $259). I had it defretted about 4 years ago. He inserted maple strips where the frets were. It looks and plays great!
I have often thought of replacing the p/ups. So I'd love to hear about mods too!

The basses are nice and solid, but the electronics are terrible. If you don't mind spending a few hundred, I would drop a set of Bartolini Classic pickups in and you can get the same Bart preamp that Tobias put in the original pre-Gibson basses from Bartolini. A friend modified his this way and the tone is killer and it is a keeper.

Talk to Brandt at The Perfect Bass, he can hook you up with the pickups and the preamp.

I had one !

I had a Toby Pro 6 string, that I modified.

I replaced that preamp. Put a Bartolini 3 band with a switch for choosing mid frequency, plus a push pull volume pot for running it on passive mode.

Fantastic upgrade.

I sold that bass to buy a StingRay 5, but sometimes I miss it a little.

bartolini installed

Finally ,I got the Bart classic CF4 soapbars and hr 4.5 preamp installed.
i found out the original might Mite P.U.s were pretty good, so you could try a new preamp first.
Ifound the mod gave way more output and versatility to the sound.
i ll need some time playing it to be more precise about it.
bass central Ed gave me good deal on it so my christmas is pretty ok!,

Mighymites back in

I put the original pups back in because I missed the transparency and character the bass originally had,
so with only the Bart preamp changed, its ready for me.
(I did find bartolini manual/schematics to be confusing..)
greetings Jochem.
