toggle switch question

Sign in to disble this ad
I am installing a 3 way toggle switch on a P/J bass. This is the first time I've ever done anything like this so bear with me.
I am going off of this diagram as to how to put the guts of the bass together

http://www.seymourduncan.com/suppor...td_p_j_bass.pdf

From this diagram how do i go about putting the toggle switch in in order to make it a pup selector? If someone could provide me with a pic on how to do it or a diagram that would be great.

FWIW:

Nothing pulls up from that link but I’m guessing the switch in the diagram is not a select switch and you want to make it one. Otherwise you’d just copy the diagram. All switches are not alike, neither are all select switches. You need to find a diagram with a select switch and use that kind of switch. Since select switches are uncommon for bass I would look for a mini-switch in a guitar diagram where select switches are common and copy that wiring.

It's easy! There should be either 3 or 6 poles to connect to, depending on if you have SPDT or DPDT (single vs. double pole). Either way, choose 3 that are in a row (i.e. one of the poles). Connect the output to the middle one, and each pup output to an outside one.

Like this:

*** <- the 3 poles
\ \ \
N O B (neck, output, bridge)
