Tonal differences between USA Barts and Bart MK-1's?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, do any of have A-B experience with USA Barts and Bart MK-1 pickups? I'm curious what the tonal differences are between both pickups? I replaced MK-1's on a Groove Tools before with USA Barts, but I swapped the Mighty Mite pre for an OBP-3 at the same time, so I cannot say what the pups contributed compared to the pre.

Thanks much in advance!

Ok, sort of. I have a BTB455, still with the MK1's, and I played a BTB 4-string with the US Barts. All I noticed is that the US Barts sounded "fuller", as in slightly better dynamic range... little more body to the lows and better hi freq range. But only slight. I haven't swapped out my pups yet. Just had a pro bassist play my BTB last week, and he liked it. He wanted to know why I would swap out pups that sounded this good. Then again, the BTB sounds great thru my Seymour Duncan Bass 400 head and my Aguilar GS410 cab. Then again, you could swap out pre's...

I'd say it probably depends on Which barts compared to the MK-1's.

Already did. Another OBP-3. I love the tone as is, just curious if there is room for improvement.

Bart makes a direct MK replacement pup. They are part of the Classic Bass series. I'd use those. HERE'S a link from BestBassGear.
