I have reviewed these pickups together as they are designed to work as a set.
The SPB-3 is Fat and punchy sounding with quite a lot of detailed treble for a P Bass pick up which helps cut through, Mids are a little scooped sounding and bass is big and warm.
The SJB-3 is a little more reserved with the low end , however the treble is stronger than the SPB-3 and there is a little more upper mid range and a more cutting treble response .
Used together with both pickups on full there seems to be a boost in the treble and bass and the mids sound a little thinner which makes for quite a good rock/metal sound and a good slap sound. Overall these are good pickups , the only negative aspect to them is that they may not be for everyone and are biased towards a rock tone , but overall good pickups |
