using 2 sets of "P-Bass" pickups
Played a Kramer in the 80's that had this setup and happen to have an old set of Dimarzio P bass - the cream colored ones and a set of Fender vintage custom shop P pickups sitting idle.
thought I might install them in a headless prototype I am working on.
Any thoughts on pickup placement and series parallel wiring options?
Everyone seems to build P-P basses using roughly Jazz pickup placement.
I'd love to see one with a P pickup in the mudbucker position and one in the Stingray sweet spot.
I did just that and loved it. EMG active Ps in bridge and neck positions. It sounded excellent....modern amd funky but not like a MM.

BTW those pickups can be had. I converted that bass to a 5 string with humbuckers.
The famous Mick Donner just aquired the Electra name from the 70's. They're now making a four and five string P bass with a P pickups in the bridge position too. Plus what's really cool is the rotary knob that let's you pick the parts you want.
Front P, back P, high side front P with back bass side P, etc.
Nice basses. They just came out at Summer NAMM.
