I see them going for around $50. There can't be much to them. Has anyone tried making one? It would be great to have a schematic & parts breakdown.

Varitone
1.5 henry inductor (use a small transformer or DC relay coil)...$5

use a 6-pole rotary switch...$3

use 1/2 dozen 1M resistors...$0.50
use 1/2 dozen caps starting at 0.1uF and each successive cap divide value by 2...$3.00

that's about $10-$11 invested straight up, not counting time, wire...etc...

$50 is a decent value, but you can save a lot by DIY, but results will vary depending upon your skill level...

That's what I figured, but without a schematic and some actual part numbers, it would probably be simpler just to buy one.
Unless you have that info..................
