Varitone questions

I was wondering if anyone had any schematics or reccomendations on a varitone. Essentially what I am looking for is something similar to my alembic spoiler. It has a variable filter with a Q switch that peaks the frequency selected by the filter. I would like something similar for my P/J bass, and my mustang bass.

I guess I would like it to essentially act as a low pass filter with a resonant peak. I am assuming a continually variable one like on the alembic would be expensive/difficult to build, so I am probably looking for something like a six position one.

There's more than one way to do this. Some use an inductor, though not necessary. Rule of thumb is that a higher value capacitor will bleed of more treble as you turn down the tone. Low value capacitor will not bleed as much.

You can make one using the above schematic or by the fancier varitone that Stellartone Makes. Two pickup applications with a Vol-Vol set up should use the Duo's. Slick idea and high quality rotary switch if you don't mind paying the money. Have yet to see someone other than Don go so deep in cap values for Varitone's.
