I got a used P Bass for $30 from CL, did a refinish with Tung Oil after stripping the old scrapy one. I ordered 2 P pups from Dragonfire on eBay, for $15.
Well, would you believe it, this sounds actually pretty darn good for the price I put in it.
I even reused the strings that were on there after giving them the denatured alcohol treatment
This is so nice I am taking it to the luthier tomorrow (the setup will cost probably the same price as the bass).
If you're looking for cheap but good, this may be a good source.
They're not Lollar pickups, but they go bang for the bucks.
